The new CCSD logo was designed and drawn by Shiprock High School senior Malachi Lee. The logo, which had to be recognizable when it appeared as small as an inch in diameter, represents educational partnerships and student success.

Judy Nelson Elementary is so big it took two ribbon cuttings to open it following a traditional Navajo Blessing Ceremony on the floor directly inside the main entrance. The new $20 million school replaces Ruth N. Bond Elementary and Grace B. Wilson Elementary in Kirtland.
