Employment Opportunities

The Central Consolidated School District is an Equal Opportunity Employer

The Central Consolidated School District is seeking enthusiastic, passionate, and the best qualified applicants in all fields, with a higher need for mathematics, science, and High Five C Jul2015special education teachers.

The District is in the heart of the beautiful Four Corners region of San Juan County in the northwest corner of New Mexico. It borders Colorado to the north, Arizona to the west, and Utah to the northwest.

There are many nearby outdoor recreational opportunities including the San Juan and Animas rivers, Navajo Lake, Mesa Verde National Park, Aztec Ruins National Monument, Chaco Culture National Historical Park, Canyon de Chelly National Monument, and plenty of hiking, mountain climbing, rafting, and skiing in the San Juan Mountains just one hour away in nearby Colorado.

The District, which serves approximately 6,000 students in 15 schools, plus early childhood preschools, covers nearly 3,000 square miles. It is part of the New Mexico Public Education Department's public school system.

The District has agreements with the Navajo Nation for no-cost long-term land leases for its schools located within the Navajo Nation.

The Central Consolidated School District serves the communities of Kirtland, Ojo Amarillo, Newcomb, Naschitti, and Shiprock, New Mexico. There are eight elementary schools, three middle schools, three high schools, and one alternative high school, as well as the preschools.

The District has two 798 seat performing arts centers: The Phil Thomas Performing Arts Center in Shiprock and the Brooks/Isham Performing Arts Center in Kirtland. It also operates the Dine Bi Community Library in Newcomb.

The District provides competitive salaries and benefits, access to the state retirement plan, holidays, personal days, and sick leave, as well as professional development and new teacher mentors.
